How to help your dog cope with fireworks on the 4th of July.
Want your pets to enjoy the 4th of july as much as you do? We do, thats why we have put together this step by step guide to help your pets cope with fireworks on the 4th of July.
Tips to help dogs with fireworks
Exercise
This one might seem obvious, but it's important so we are going to talk about it anyway. Take your dog for a long walk, run, cycle or whatever activity they love to get out that excess energy. They will be in a more relaxed state for the rest of the day.
Socialise
Much like humans, dogs need balance in their life to be well rounded and positive. Thats not the only thing they have in common with humans, they also have an Endocannabinoid system, what is the Endocannabinoid system (ECS)? Take them to the dog park or invite one of their dog friends over to play. After playing they will be in a happier frame of mind.
Distract
Background noise will help mask the loud noises fireworks create, leave the TV or stereo on to create a relaxing environment for your pets. Get some tips for reading your dogs body language here.
Support
If you can its best to stay home and be with your dog while the fireworks are going off. We know this isn't always possible but being there for them would certainly make the experience less scary.
Calm State of Mind
For some dogs this will be enough to keep them calm throughout the loud fireworks displays we all love on the 4th of July, others may need a little more help.
When is the right time to give your dog CBD?
Don't wait until the fireworks displays start, once your dog is upset and excited CBD will have less of an effect. CBD for dogs and anxiety relief should be used half an hour before you expect the fireworks to start, and when your dog is calm. CBD can help your dog stay calm, and have the best chance of a relaxing 4th of July.
